Special Education Teacher Job 2024-25

Overview:
United Staff Group is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher focus ELA to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and possess the skills necessary to provide specialized education to students with diverse needs for NSY 2024-2025 .

Job Title: Special Education Teacher ( Start Date August 23, 2024)

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement instruction for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities.
  • Administer and interpret standardized evaluations and informal assessments.
  • Utilize assessment data to monitor progress, develop IEPs, and inform instruction.
  • Participate in IEP Team Meetings.
  • Collaborate with general education colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Facilitate an inclusive model of special education within the school community.
  • Adapt curriculum and materials according to Universal Design principles.
  • Utilize instructional and assistive technology as needed.
  • Provide instruction in meta-cognitive and executive functioning skills.
  • Engage in professional development aligned with school mission and student needs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and colleagues.
  • Adhere to timelines for paperwork.
  • Supervise special education associate teachers (if needed).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill non-instructional duties (e.g., morning supervision, advisory, bus duty).
  • Maintain professionalism (attendance, punctuality, dress, communication).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services or Principal.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Massachusetts licensure in Special Education (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities, 5-12).
  • Knowledge of state and federal Special Education regulations.
  • Experience working with diverse student backgrounds.
  • Collaborative and flexible with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and attention to detail.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
