Job Description

The special education teacher provides instruction at the elementary, middle, high school and/or adult transition level to students who require remedial and specialized assistance in pre-academic, academic, social emotional, behavioral, adaptive behavior, daily living, pre-vocational, college and career skill areas; and plans, develops, organizes and implements comprehensive individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with a variety of disabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for teaching groups of students.
  • Meet each student’s learning requirements and build individual lesson plans to their specific needs.
  • You will also discuss with parents and support staff to meet students’ progress.
  • Adapt learning materials to students’ needs, ability to create IEPs.
  • Keep track of and reflect on students’ progress.
  • Monitor children’s behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed.
  • Prepare students for the transition to the next grade.
  • Coach/mentor other professionals who work with children with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with the support staff.
  • All other duties related to the program.

Requirement:
Valid California Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Education Specialist License
1+ years of working experience as a Special Education Teacher
Master’s degree preferred

Salary: $45.00 – $55.00 per hour

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Schedule:
7.5-hour shift
Monday to Friday

Special Education: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

Valid California Mild to Moderate or Moderate to Severe Teacher Certification (Required)
