Responsibilities:
- Assess children’s development: Conduct comprehensive assessments, observe interactions, and analyse data to identify developmental needs.
- Design individualised education plans (IEPs): Develop tailored goals and objectives, involving parents in the planning process based on assessment results.
- Provide instructional support: Offer individual and group instruction using evidence-based strategies in language, cognition, socialization, and motor skills.
- Collaborate with professionals: Work effectively in a team with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists to provide comprehensive support.
- Communicate with families: Establish regular communication to discuss a child’s progress, goals, and address concerns, providing resources or referrals as needed.
- Document progress and outcomes: Maintain detailed records of assessments, activities, and outcomes to guide ongoing instruction and update families and professionals.
Overall, Special Education Teachers play a crucial role in supporting children with developmental delays. They collaborate with families, professionals, and community resources to promote growth and development.
